Vinmec and Seoul National University Hospital collaborate to enhance the quality of Vietnam’s preventive medicine

On May 5, 2022, in Hanoi, with the witness of the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Vietnam, Vinmec Healthcare System and Seoul National University Hospital signed a cooperation agreement on preventive medicine. This event not only demonstrates Vinmec’s international growth strategy but also contributes to the development of Vietnam’s preventive medicine.

Ms. Le Thuy Anh, General Director of Vinmec Healthcare System, and Mr. Kim Yon Su, President and General Director of Seoul National University Hospital, signed the agreement. The signing ceremony was held in the presence of Mr. Park Noh Wan, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Vietnam.

The cooperation agreement is effective for 5 years, with the goal of establishing and operating a Korean-standard general health examination center at Vinmec Times City International General Hospital (Hanoi). The agreement seeks to introduce a new and comprehensive health assessment model that goes beyond the standard general health examination program. This in-depth assessment is designed to detect early signs of diseases such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes, stroke, and age-related diseases. The goal is to create personalized health management programs for each customer based on their individual risk factors.

The signing ceremony to establish the Korean-standard general health examination center was held at Vinmec Times City International General Hospital (Hanoi).

Seoul National University Hospital (SNUH), a renowned institution with 130 years of expertise in medical training, research, management, and operation, has partnered with Vinmec to implement advanced healthcare and management initiatives. Within the cooperation framework, a team of experienced professors and doctors from Gangnam General Healthcare Center, a leading unit in preventive medicine in Korea and a subsidiary of SNUH, will be leading the screening and general health check-up programs. The Advanced General Health Examination Center at Vinmec Times City will benefit from the direct involvement of SNUH’s team of experts, who will oversee operations, provide training, and transfer SNUH’s diagnostic logic, algorithm, and technical processes to facilitate early risk screening.

The foundation of Vinmec and SNUH’s collaboration is their shared vision of the importance of preventive medicine in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and the increasing prevalence of chronic non-communicable diseases. With the motto “Prevention is better than cure”, the utilization of cutting-edge healthcare technology is poised to enhance efficacy and proactivity, thereby alleviating the strain on Vietnam’s healthcare system. This development is expected to bolster public health and improve the standard of living, ultimately benefiting public well-being and quality of life. Both parties view this as the cornerstone for further collaboration in various areas in the coming years.

Mr. Nguyen Viet Quang, Vice President and General Director of Vingroup, expressed Vinmec’s ambition to gain global recognition and make significant contributions to the advancement of preventive medicine in Vietnam at the ceremony.

During the signing ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Viet Quang, Vice President and General Director of Vingroup, shared that “At Vinmec, our vision is to become a leading academic medicine system with exceptional clinical expertise as well as a model for continuous and comprehensive healthcare management for the community. In a bid to achieve our global aspirations, Vinmec has established the Advanced General Health Examination Center with SNUH.”

Mr. Kim Yon Su, President and General Director of Seoul National University Hospital, highlighted the importance of preventive medicine and expressed SNUH’s interest in collaborating with Vinmec Healthcare System to deliver a comprehensive and intensive health assessment solution. The program is designed to provide a thorough and tailored approach to healthcare, including early detection and personalized healthcare plans for every patient.

Commenting on SNUH’s first collaboration with a healthcare system in Vietnam, Mr. Kim Yon Su, President and General Director of SNUH, stressed: “As a national hospital, Seoul National University Hospital has been at the forefront of medicine development in Korea for over 130 years. The Gangnam General Healthcare Center, a crucial contributor to this partnership, is at the forefront of preventive medicine in Korea. With our excellent team and advanced technology, Vinmec’s Advanced General Health Examination Center is set to take a significant leap forward with this latest cooperation. It is expected that this collaboration will enhance the center’s reputation as a reliable and high-quality healthcare destination for Vietnamese people. Furthermore, this year celebrates the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and Vietnam. In this context, we hope that this cooperation will contribute to the improvement of health for both Vietnamese and Korean people in Vietnam, marking a significant milestone in our bilateral relations in healthcare.”

Mr. Park Noh Wan, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Vietnam, along with leaders of Seoul National University Hospital, paid a visit to the Advanced General Health Examination Center in Vinmec Times City International General Hospital (Hanoi).
