Vinmec’s series of scientific seminars aimed at providing the latest medical advancements around the world. These seminars are designed to enhance practitioners’ knowledge and skills.

In recent years, gastrointestinal endoscopic surgery has seen significant advancements. It has emerged as the preferred alternative to open surgery for treating a variety of intricate ailments. Currently, Vietnam’s major surgical centers have achieved world-class expertise in performing complex endoscopic gastrointestinal surgeries. These include procedures such as colorectal cancer resection, pelvic lymphadenectomy, simultaneous liver resection and laparoscopic colectomy, total mesorectal excision and transanal excision, etc.

With the advancement of endoscopic gastrointestinal surgery techniques, overcoming anastomosis complications has become a pressing issue.

“The seminar successfully addressed pertinent and practical issues for its attendees. Through the seminar, we understand that advancements in endoscopic gastrointestinal surgery have been remarkable, largely due to the aid of surgical instruments. This has led to a significant improvement in treatment efficacy and enhancement in patients’ quality of life.

While the event presented new opportunities, it also brought forth new challenges for researchers, surgeons, and surgical instrument makers. They need to push beyond their current limits and strive for progress. The ultimate goal is to perfect the quality of gastrointestinal surgery and achieve  world-class excellence” – noted Assoc. Prof. Pham Van Binh – Deputy Director of K Hospital after the seminar.

Assoc. Prof. Pham Van Binh – Deputy Director of K Hospital – believes that initiatives such as this are a step in the right direction towards enhancing the capabilities of Vietnamese surgeons and bringing them up to par with global standards.

During the seminar, Assoc.Prof. Dr.. “Vinmec has implemented universal methods to improve early rehabilitation after surgery (ERAS) as part of its strategy to develop intensive endoscopic gastrointestinal surgery for the treatment of gastrointestinal diseases, namely gastrointestinal cancer.

Consequently, Vinmec hospitals have been able to perform many complex laparoscopic surgeries on elderly patients with severe comorbidities (high blood pressure, diabetes, respiratory failure). Patients between the ages of 80 and 90 can undergo laparoscopic total gastrectomy and colorectal cancer removal with rapid recovery and few complications” – commented Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Duc Huan.

Vinmec Times City Hospital has successfully performed a gastrointestinal endoscopic surgery utilizing the latest and most advanced surgical instruments available.

The “Application of advanced technology for tissue management and stapler as anastomosis in gastrointestinal endoscopic surgery” seminar is part of Vinmec’s ongoing series of specialized seminars held throughout 2022. The program not only helps improve the knowledge and skills of gastroenterology surgeons, but also provides the latest trends in medical examination and treatment worldwide, thereby contributing to the enhancement of healthcare quality for patients in Vietnam.
