Vinmec is recognized by ACC as Asia’s first ‘Center of Excellence’ for Cardiology

Vinmec’s Cardiovascular Center – Vinmec Times City Hanoi and Vinmec Central Park Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) have been acknowledged as ‘Centers of Excellence’ for Cardiology in Asia by the American College of Cardiology – ACC.

At the event, Vinmec Times City and Vinmec Central Park were also conferred ACC certificates for their programs on heart failure management and coronary heart disease.

ACC accreditation has emerged as the foremost global benchmark for the management and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. This set of standards incorporates the latest recommendations from professional associations and applies them to clinical protocols and technical procedures. The aim is to ensure that patients receive comprehensive, continuous, and effective treatment, ultimately resulting in optimal outcomes.

After one year of development and implementation, the Cardiovascular Center of Vinmec Times City (Hanoi) and Vinmec Central Park (HCMC) have been acknowledged by the ACC Appraisal Board for their proficiency in the heart failure management program. Particularly, the heart failure program met all 28 indicators, while the coronary program met all 34 indicators.

Vinmec Times City and Vinmec Central Park received 2 ACC certificates on management of heart failure and coronary heart disease.

In order to receive these certificates, Vinmec’s representative shared that the divisions had to develop a comprehensive program on heart failure management and coronary intervention, update clinical protocols in line with ACC guidelines, standardize the capacity of all medical staff in the program, optimize operations, and implement innovative initiatives. This has helped improve treatment outcomes for cardiovascular patients.
Accordingly, Vinmec has achieved remarkable success in implementing ACC standards for heart failure management and coronary intervention programs. The hospital has managed to reduce the average hospital stay, as well as the rate of complications and readmissions within 30 days of discharge. These achievements have been recorded after a year of implementing ACC standards.

During the ceremony, the ACC Appraisal Board acknowledged the Cardiovascular Center, Vinmec Times City International General Hospital and Vinmec Central Park International Hospital as Centers of Excellence (COE) in Cardiology.

According to ACC’s representative, international hospitals are awarded the aforementioned certification upon meeting two criteria: successfully obtaining the certificate for cardiovascular disease management and officially participating in the ACC database. Hospitals are required to showcase the efficacy of implementing ACC standards in enhancing the quality of treatment and minimizing complications for patients. Furthermore, they must pledge to standardize procedures by relying on data collection and analysis. This is the first time ACC awarded its COE certification on Cardiology to hospitals in Asia.
